Help & Support

FrigateProtect is a native iPhone app for your own Frigate NVR.

Need a hand? Email hello@ashcoHQ.com, or use TestFlight's "Send Beta Feedback" (take a screenshot in the app). We read every message.

Getting started

What do I need?

A running Frigate server and its address, plus a Frigate username and password if authentication is on.

How do I connect?

Open the app and enter your server address (for example your Tailscale name, your-server.tailnet.ts.net:8971), username and password. If your server uses Frigate's own self-signed certificate, the app shows its fingerprint and asks you to trust it once.

It can't find my server.

Check that your phone is on the same network or on your VPN/Tailscale, that the address and port are right, and that FrigateProtect is allowed in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.

Cameras and recordings

Live view is black or stutters.

Live view uses Frigate's go2rtc restream. Make sure the camera has a go2rtc stream configured. Try a lower quality in Settings → Viewer.

Where are my recordings?

Open a camera and scrub the timeline, or use Detections. Recording must be enabled for the camera in Frigate.

Notifications

I don't get alerts.

Allow notifications for FrigateProtect, then check the alert settings in the app. Alerts also need a notification relay connected to your Frigate server.

Privacy

Your video stays between your phone and your server. Read the privacy policy.
